SINGAPORE - A woman, 54, was found dead with multiple injuries in a Eunos Crescent flat yesterday afternoon.
Police have arrested her 30-year-old son in connection with the case, which they have classified as murder.
According to The Straits Times, the woman, known as Madam Hasnah, was found lying motionless in a pool of blood. She was pronounced dead 10 minutes after paramedics arrived.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman told the paper that she had several slash wounds on her body,
Madam Hasnah's other son and daughter were at the flat yesterday during the investigations, but they declined to comment.
The Straits Times reported that housewife Patricia Koh, who was visiting her father who lives two units away from Madam Hasnah, saw droplets of blood at a stairwell leading to a door that opens to the rooftop at the block.
Although she does not know Madam Hasnah personally, Ms Koh said that she was a "very nice lady" and "was always giving our family food".
"I really cannot believe this has happened."
Most of the residents living on the same floor as Madam Hasnah could not return to their homes as the area was cordoned off by the police, and had to wait up to nine hours before they could gain access.
Police are investigating and have classified the case as murder.
